Frequently Asked Questions: Paper Shredders

Q: The motor is not turning on. What do I do?

A: This could be due to the placement on the basket. Some models have a safety switch that must be aligned with a tab on the basket in order for the shredder motor to turn on. Refer to your manual or contact Techko for detailed information.



Q: The shredder is running continuously. It won’t stop. What should I do?

A: If the shredder will not stop, it is most likely due to paper or other debris stuck in the sensor. In most shredders, there is a trigger sensor in the middle of the paper slot where you feed the paper.

First unplug the machine and then try to clear anything that might be blocking this sensor. If that doesn't work, try taking a cotton swab with a little window cleaner solution. Rub it back and forth in the sensor area. There might be gummy buildup due to tape or glue.



Q: The paper is jammed into the machine. How do I get it out?


A: Try using the reverse switch and ease it out. If there are smaller pieces stuck, unplug the machine and try using tweezers to pull out the jammed paper.



Q: Do you have replacement parts?

A: We do not offer individual replacement parts. If there is something wrong with the shredder, please contact customer service for warranty coverage and additional instructions.
